Joel began his career in the late 1960’s in New York City.  He earned the title of Graduate Gemologist from the prestigious Gemological Institute of America in 1977. Joel has worked for renowned fine jewelry stores like Tiffany & Company in New York and Dayton Hudson Jewelers in Minneapolis, Minnesota. There he purchased diamonds and fine jewelry for over fifty of the oldest and finest jewelry stores in in the United States at that time.

After leaving retail in the late 1970’s, Joel started manufacturing jewelry and selling to small independent as well as the large chain stores around the country, Eventually, his love for horses brought him south to the Aiken-Augusta area where he moved his manufacturing business south in 1990. In the mid-1990’s Joel returned to his first love…retail, where he expanded his business interests from a focus on Estate Jewelry to what is now one of the leading jewelry repair, diamond  engagement and  wedding ring stores in the southeast, all under the name Crown Jewelers.
